Aujourd’hui , une tenue « Poupée gigogne » ! En effet, le froid glacial du moment implique pour moi le port d’une veste ET d’un manteau par dessus, ce qui donne 2 tenues dans une tenue : Opération superpositions ! Vous pouvez d’ailleurs voir mon fameux jean neige de l’autre fois in vivo : très près du corps mais archi-élastique donc super confortable : il ne manque plus que le chauffage intégré et ce sera parfait.

Today is « Nesting Doll » outfit day ! The freezing temperatures we’re dealing with right now imply that I wear a jacket AND a coat, which gives us 2 outfits in one : Layering Operation! By the way you can see those acid washed jeans from last time in an irl situation : very tight, but super elastic and thus super comfortable : now all I need is an embedded heating system and it’ll be absolutely perfect. Ce Jean rose-corail-couleur indéfinie, je ne pensais vraiment pas qu’il aurait une aussi grande capacité à se mélanger à ma garde-robe ! Depuis l’année dernière, j’ai réussi à « pondre » pas mal de tenues avec, saison apres saison. C’est d’ailleurs assez étonnant pour un vêtement coloré. En effet, contrairement aux vernis à ongles, j’ai du mal à adopter des habits trop flashy : j’ai peur de me lasser ( je tarde d’ailleurs dans ma quête du manteau de couleur, et bien sûr je sens que je vais le trouver quand il fera 30 degrés à l’ombre). Et là finalement, en mode « températures polaires », mon jean coloré répond encore présent : belle surprise !

I really didn’t think that these jeans of undefined pink-coral colour would have such a great capacity to mix with my wardrobe! Since last year, I’ve managed to come up with quite a few outfits with it, season after season – which is a bit surprising for such a colored garment. Indeed, unlike nail polish, I find it hard to adopt clothes that are too flashy: I’m just afraid to get tired of wearing them (my quest for a coloured coat is by the way taking a long time, I’ll for sure find it when it’s 30 degrees outside). And yet, in polar temperature mode, I can still count on my coloured jeans: what a nice surprise ! (English translation by LN)

Mercredi dernier fut une journée très chargée en magie et émotions puisque j’ai eu la chance d’assister à deux défilés Haute-Couture. Celui de Jean Paul Gaultier que je vous détaillerai très bientôt et celui du duo créatif de « On aura tout vu ». Ce 2ème défilé moins connu du grand public a cependant été pour moi une merveilleuse découverte. Et tout ça grâce à l’invitation de Yelle qui m’a demandée de l’accompagner, en toute simplicité. C’est donc avec grand plaisir que je me suis laissée enchanter.

En me renseignant un  peu plus sur la marque, il se trouve que Lady Gaga a déjà jeté son dévolu sur quelques unes de leurs créations (pendant sa période Bad Romance il me semble ) et lors du défilé, on pouvait facilement l’imaginer porter ces robes subtiles. Le thème du défilé tournait autour du feu, la lumière et les étincelles . Une mannequin ouvre le bal (des pompiers ?) en enflammant une ceinture faite d’allumettes sur un barbecue en strass ( raconté comme ça, on croit plutôt que c’est moi qui ai fumé !) : le ton est donné.

Last wednesday was a very busy day made of magic and emotions since I had the chance to attend two Haute-couture fashion shows. That of Jean Paul Gaultier, which I will detail very soon, and that of the creative duo « On aura tout vu ». This second show, less known to the general public, has nevertheless been a wonderful discovery for me. And all this thanks to the invitation of Yelle who asked me to join her in all simplicity. So it’s with great pleasure that I’ve let myself enchanted.

When I checked for more info on the brand, I found out that Lady Gaga had set her heart on some of their creations (during her Bad Romance time it seems), and during the fashion show we could easily imagine her wearing these subtle dresses. The show’s theme was around fire, light and glitters/sparks. A model opens the (firemen’s ?) ball by setting fire to a belt made of matches on a glittery barbecue (told this way, one could think that I’m the one who smoked !): the tone is set.

S’enchaînent  alors les créations : un méticuleux travail autour de la légèreté, la transparence mais aussi des volumes structurés ou déstructurés, des broderies et pierreries à foison.

Then come the creations: a meticulous work around lightness, transparence, but also full of structured or unstructured volumes, embroidery and gems.

Puis au moment de la robe de mariée finale, on nous demande d’allumer nos bâtons de feu de Bengale distribués au préalable. Forcément, la réactivité me faisant totalement défaut à ce moment-là ( Julie-Yelle avait déjà brandi son bâton scintillant depuis belle lurette que je cherchais encore l’allumette) , je me suis contentée d’admirer sans allumer le feu ( Johnny, toutes mes confuses). Le spectacle se termine par une robe de mariée impressionnante  avec en guise de traîne, un sillage de fumée derrière elle.

Finally when it comes to the wedding dress, we’re asked to light the Bengal fire sticks previously distributed to us. Of course, with my lack of reactivity at that moment (Julie-Yelle had already brandished her scintillating stick for ages while I was still looking for the match), I just admired without lighting my fire (my apologies to The Doors). The show ends with an impressive wedding dress having a smoke trail behind it serving as the train.

Tout le monde applaudit alors avec enthousiasme (Oui, là c’est bon, je suis assez réactive pour le faire) les créateurs Livia S.Stoianova, Yassen Samouilov et leur équipe sur fond de « Come on baby light my fire ». Nous confrontons alors avec Julie nos opinions sur le défilé « j’ai aimé ci , j’ai préféré ça » et globalement, nous sommes plus que conquises.

Pour finir , voici donc une photo de Yelle et moi prise avant le défilé par François Reinhart. Vous pouvez donc voir nos tenues du jour: pour ma part j’avais choisi d’être à l’aise sachant que j’allais enchaîner avec le défilé de Jean Paul Gaultier mais avec des petites touches de fluo pour relever le tout. Et sans faire exprès, nous étions synchro avec nos rayures ! En tous cas, ce défilé « On aura tout vu » a été une belle révélation pour moi et merci Julie pour ta gentillesse et ta « safari disco » coolitude !

Everyone applauds then with enthusiasm (Ok now I’m reactive enough to do it) the creators Livia S.Stoianova, Yassen Samouilov and their team with « Come on baby light my fire » playing in the background. Julie and I exchange our opinions on the show « I liked this, I preferred that » and overall we’re more than won over.

I will finish this post with a photo of Yelle and I, taken before the show by François Reinhart. You can see our outfits on that day: I chose to be relaxed, knowing that I had to go to Jean Paul Gaultier’s fashion show afterwards, though with small touches of fluo to spice it all up. And just by coincidence, we were in sync with our stripes! In any case, this show « On aura tout vu » has been a beautiful revelation for me, and thank you Julie for your kindness and your « safari disco » coolitude!

La fashion week masculine m’ a quelque peu inspirée cette tenue photographiée en vitesse sur le quai de la gare de Luxembourg ( 5 minutes avant que le train ne démarre : j’aime vivre dangereusement…).

Je crois qu’elle regroupe l’essentiel de ce que j’ai pu trouver pendant les soldes: mes Poulaines chéries, mon sac de pré-anniversaire et de nouveaux arrivants : un pantalon 7/8 (enfin trouvé !) forme légèrement carotte, un pull gris aux torsades bizarroïdes et un blazer à pois ( qui vient agrandir ma collection de pois ). Une tenue très très confortable, encore une fois. Bon allez, je ne traîne pas trop, j’ai un train à prendre !

The men’s fashion week somewhat inspired this outfit, of which pictures were snapped in a hurry on the platform of the Luxembourg train station (5 minutes before the departure of my train : I like living dangerously …)

I think it pretty much sums up my sales finds : my darling Poulaines, my pre-birthday bag, and newcomers: a pair of 7/8th length pants (finally found ‘em !) with that slightly carrot cut, a gray sweater with odd cable knits, and a dotted blazer (that is yet another addition to my dots collection). Après la méthode de dé-cucu-ification, j’ai expérimenté durant un week-end allemano-luxembourgeois des plus sympathiques, celle de la dé-pouf-isation. En effet, si je vous dis en deux mots (ting ting ting ting ting tiing!= jingle du jeu Pyramides) : Cuir… puis Léopard, vous imaginez certainement une démarche chaloupée tordante-du-fessier-la-route-est-droite, des plus saillantes.
Me voici donc devant vous avec ma toute première jupe en cuir dénichée en soldes et mes ballerines léopard. Je ne sais pas si j’ai réussi à illustrer ma méthode mais en restant à plat, réchauffée d’ un pull confortable, d’un collant opaque et en m’emmitouflant dans mon manteau fétiche, j’ai essayé de tout faire pour !

After the de-preppyfying method, I took some time during a wonderful weekend spent between Luxembourg and Germany to experiment with the de-slutty-fication one. Indeed, if I tell you the two following words : leather … and leopard, the image of severely swaying hips may come to mind.
So here I am in front of you with my very first leather skirt, found during the sales, worn with my leopard flats. I don’t know if I managed to illustrate my method right, but by staying off the heels, with a comfortable sweater, opaque tights and wrapped in my favorite coat, I gave it my best shot! Dans l’attente de vous montrer une tenue avec mes Poulaines (…veuillez agréer, madame…) et parce que j’aime bien prendre mon temps, je vous montre la suite de mes trouvailles de soldes. Le bordeaux est entré lentement mais sûrement dans mon dressing, d’abord avec ce pull et maintenant avec ce fabuleux Alexa.

Ce dernier fait d’ailleurs office de cadeau d’anniversaire en avance ( = j’ai finement négocié pour pouvoir le porter avant le jour J, fin Janvier, prétextant une fin du monde en décembre 2012, d’où le côté urgent de profiter du cadeau ). Bref, ce n’est pas vraiment une trouvaille de soldes… enfin… nous dirons que j’ai soufflé l’idée de trouvaille de soldes pour qu’elle se transforme en cadeau d’anniversaire.

Pour le reste de la tenue, des p’tits pois, des p’tits pois, encore des p’tits pois ! Je commence d’ailleurs à avoir une petite collection de vêtements ou accessoires à pois : l’imprimé qui rivalise avec les rayures dans mon placard. Je trouve que les pois, ça pimente une tenue… Quand je vous disais que j’aimais les petits pois au wasabi, finalement… tout se recoupe !

Before I can show you an outfit with my Poulaines, and also because I like taking my time, I’ll immediately show you the rest of my sales finds. Bordeaux slowly but surely made its way into my dressing, first with this sweater, now with this fabulous Alexa.

It’s actually an early birthday gift (=I negociated to be allowed to wear it before the D-day, end of January, by pretexting that with the end of the world in december 2012 looming ahead, I urgently needed to enjoy it as much as possible). Anyway, that’s not really a big sales find … well … lets just say I hinted a possible sales find to someone so that it would turn into a birthday gift.

For the rest of the outfit, it’s all dots and dots and more dots ! I’m actually starting to have quite a small collection of dotted clothes or accessories : it’s the print that competes with stripes in my closet. I do tend to think that dots spice up an outfit … by the way, did I tell you that I really liked those little wasabi peas ? Peas, dots … all in all, it’s all the same ! Je vous ai dit que je cherchais un manteau de couleur, je commence par le gilet : Il faut y aller doucement avec moi, vous devez le savoir ! Mais attention, soldé ! En laine en plus. Du coup il me sert de manteau ( OK, j’ai mis 2 couches de thermolactyls (trop glam!) en dessous mais c’est comme si). Et comme la couleur moutarde, je ne sais pas trop avec quelles couleurs ça peut s’assortir à part le gris et le noir , je l’assortis avec du gris et du noir ( La suite dans les idées , toujours ).

Et je porte ce collier sous le col de ma chemise pour un effet « Prêtre New Age » . Les soldes ont donc commencé pour moi en ligne, avec ces deux choses venant tout droit de Urban Outfitters. Je me tâte encore pour savoir si je me déplace physiquement dans l’antre de la folie mercredi prochain (= les pantalons, je n’arrive pas à les commander par correspondance! Mes fesses me jouent toujours des tours!) ou si je joue le coup du destin en déboulant seulement à la fin des soldes. L’avenir me le dira. Amen.

I had told you I was looking for a coat of a certain color, but I’m starting with the cardigan : I have to take it slow, as you should know by now ! But wait, it was on sale ! And wool too. So it actually serves me as a coat (OK, I put two layers of insulating thermolactyls underneath, but it still counts). And since I don’t really know what this mustard color goes with, apart from gray and black, I wore it with gray and black (what an incredible idea! Always, yes, I know).

And I’m wearing this necklace underneath my shirt collar for a « New Age Priestess » effect. Online sales have begun for me as you can see, with these two items straight out from Urban Outfitters. I’m still pondering whether or not I should physically step inside what is very likely to be close to hell next Wednesday (= pants, I can’t order them online! Attttttention! Devinette du jour: que s’est-il donc passé au niveau de mon manteau « Chewbacca-tapis de salle de bain »? Il a subi un changement mais lequel? Bon, c’est une devinette avec un niveau de difficulté zéro (comme si vous jouiez avec une seule touche à Guitar Hero) mais je voulais quand même vous la poser. Parce que je suis contente de son petit relooking et que je m’y sens mieux dedans.

Sinon, voici mon nouveau sac bleu en situation : une taille modeste mais suffisante pour contenir quand même pas mal de choses et cette couleur finalement plus foncée que sur le site mais qui m’arrange car elle semble plus facile à associer avec les vêtements. A part ça, roulements de tambour… nous sommes à moins d’une semaine avant Noël: neige ou neigera pas ? That is the question.( Ça fait beaucoup de devinettes, je sais, je sais…)

Attention please!! Quiz of the day : what happened to my « Chewbacca-bathroom floormat » coat? It went through some kind of change, but what change exactly? Ok, well it’s a 0 difficulty level quiz (kind of like if Guitar Hero was played with only one note) but I still wanted to ask. Because I’m pretty happy with the makeover, and I feel much better in it.

Other than that, here’s my new blue bag in action : a modest size, but still big enough to contain a certain number of thing. Also this color, a bit darker than what the site’s picture led to believe works better for me, because it seems to work more easily with my clothes.
