Tulpendag 2013

· Fashion, Travel

Here are the pictures taken the “day before” the storm in Amsterdam. Sometimes, the weather can be benevolent: the event could clearly not have taken place as easily the following day during the blizzard.

The event in question was the Tulpendag, or “National Tulips Day”, on the 19th of January. I heard about it when we arrived at the Amsterdam train station, at the tourist office: “at 1:30 PM, head for the Dam Square: a huge field of tulips will be set up for the occasion, and you can pick your bouquet for free” … Nice!

I played along as an “improvised florist” amongst the Amsterdamers and the tourists, all eager to partake in this colorful festival.

Bundled up as I was, I was able to roam through the city all day long without faltering: to admire Vincent Van Gogh’s sunflowers and other impressionist works at the Hermitage museum (The Van Gogh Museum is being renovated: you can spare yourselves a fruitless trip there, unlike me), to visit Anne Frank’s home in recollection, to take shelter in the cheese and tulip museum and to take long breaks in the city’s tea houses.

Yes, yes, my gourmet spots are coming soon, be patient, I need some time to write it all! (English translation by Bleu Marine)

Snowy Amsterdam

· Fashion, Travel

I am back from a very cold yet very fun weekend in Amsterdam! It was my first time in the city and I really enjoyed it!

Even with the freezing cold and the small snow blizzard on sunday, we still managed to visit the city thoroughly. I do have one regret though: I should have brought my UGG along, I could have faced the cold more fearlessly…

This pic was taken “The day after” the snow blizzard, hence my relatively zen attitude and few layers. Imagine that the night before, I was bent forward (=aerodynamic fight against the snow), head hidden in my huge fluffy scarf and jeans instead of shorts. Well at least you get to see what my sales finds look like in action in the midst of these frozen surroundings. I’ll be back very soon to share my favorite spots with you! My Petit Bateau x Carven dress

· Fashion

I think a good number of us where waiting for the result of Carven’s collaboration with Petit Bateau! Little preppy styled yet comfortable dresses, that was clearly meant for us! After hesitating between two dresses with peter pan collars that are being put in the showcase, I ended up trying their shadow sister, the quilted dress.

I was seduced by its impecable cut and the naughty side of the slit on the thigh. But as I didn’t want to regret the peter pan collar and the two other dresses (…And I couldn’t go for all three dresses at the same time), I thought, why not add one? I threw on a white shirt underneath: and voilà! Nothing more simple! ….whew! The Carven Spirit is preserved! (English translation by Bleu Marine)
