The Duffle-coat is back

· Fashion

So, what do you think? I hope you’re getting used to the new blog and that you’re enjoying it? On my side, it’s like opening a new notebook: I’m trying to keep everything neat (like at the beginning of the school year, when you have the tip of your tongue sticking out in effort, you know?).

Here’s an outfit from a week ago, at a time when it wasn’t as cold as it is now. Today, I’d have added socks, or sheer stockings: I know some of you are frowning right now, but the stockings I usually wear aren’t shiny at all! I could actually have told you I was wearing some on these pictures, but I wanted to be transparent (like those stockings! hehe).

On that day, being sock-less and wearing that scoop-back sweater was perfectly tolerable, weather-wise. Maybe the Englishwoman’s genetics (they’re never cold!) is rubbing off on me? (English translation by Bleu Marine)

Live in Levi’s

· Fashion

We all share some history with Levi’s, as you may have noticed in their recent #LiveInLevis campaign.

On my part, a couple of years back, I discovered the “butt lift” properties of the 501 – a great asset (pun not intended) if you’re about to be called up to the front of the classroom for a surprise school test.

Nowadays, I alternate between a pair of vintage 501 shorts and a mishandled pair of 571 slim fit (the’yre all torn up, but I love them). In any case, Levi’s has been with me for a long time.

As a tribute to this iconic brand, I created a look that’s 100% me, that I can move around and live in on a daily basis. I won’t give up either fashion or comfort, you know me!

So I chose a slim fit pair from the “Revel” collection – it’s ultra stretch, with a new “elongating-shaping” technology, a revival of the “butt lift” jeans I was talking about above….with more comfort! I paired it with this Teddy style coat, for an urban back to school look.

Come on! Let’s head off to new adventures! (Well ok, picking out postcards is probably not the most dangerous and adventurous activity on earth, but you never know what could happen next …. tatataaaaaaaaa! * Indiana Jones music)

You can also share your experience or other favorite-levi’s-related stories by using the #LiveInLevis hashtag, and maybe you’ll be picked out and showcased on their website or the @levis_fr Instagram account.

Extreme Makeover

· Illustration

I’ve been indirectly teasing you on Instagram, announcing a change. Yes, but what kind of change? Some of you where waaay off (No, I’m not getting my eyes fixed with laser surgery – that’s already been done! – nor am I getting plastic surgery for my jaw – Why by the way? Should I? haha!) Today, the mystery is unveiled…. Tadaaa! Here is my blog’s 2014 version!

My blog’s last design dated back to 2010, and didn’t reflect who I am anymore: too childish, not sleek and sober enough, not clear enough. My tastes and aspirations have evolved. I’ve grown up (or grown old, let’s not be afraid to say it aloud). Which is why I’m so proud and happy to show you all this new blog: it’s 100% me.

And it is also the fruit of countless hours (and months) of work, conducted by Ykone‘s passionate and talented team. Here is the result!

A French/English Tab

The design is sleeker, the pictures a tad larger, there’s even a French/English tab, because I can be quite the talker, and that two languages in one post meant that said post was often very (too?) long. Last but definitively not least, two novelties:

A portfolio

A more comprehensible portfolio for my illustrations, and finally, something I’d been dreaming of for quite some time: a world map with all my recommendations with regards to food and restaurants!

A Restaurant world map

I wanted something that would be more user-friendly: everything has been listed by category and location: with just one look, you’ll know where to get the best pastries in Paris, Tokyo or Barcelona. You can zoom in and out as much as you wish! You can also reread my posts in detail by clicking on the selected restaurant.

I’ll let you get familiar with this new environment at your own pace, I’m not telling you everything just yet! Don’t hesitate to let me know about any malfunctions or bugs you might find along the way so that we can fix them asap. In any case, I hope you’ll enjoy spending time here even more than before: thank you for always being present and enthusiastic all these years. If there is one thing I wouldn’t change for the world, it’s YOU!

PS: A huge THANK YOU and mega-HUG to all the people who helped me during the long adventure that this blog’s redesign has proved to be: Thank you Béné, Romain, Benoît, David, Quiterie, Agathe, Alison, Solène, Olivier and the whole Ykone team, who has been by my side since the beginning! Love love love! (English translation by Bleu Marine)
