Une chose que je n’ai pas signalée dans ma liste de Soldes , c’est la chemise kimono. Tout simplement car je l’ai trouvée avant d’élaborer cette liste. J’en cherchais depuis le début du printemps sans succès. Très difficile d’en trouver une qui ne me fasse pas basculer dans le premier degré car avec ma tête + le kimono, on risquerait de penser que je postule pour travailler dans un bar à sushis. Et puis la plupart du temps, soit l’imprimé n’était pas assez sobre ( GROS dragons dans le dos avec GROS pictogrammes chinois ou japonais = Comme si il n’y avait pas assez de signaux « Asie » … on ne sait jamais au cas où on n’ait pas compris la touche d’exotisme) soit le kimono était vraiment trop long à la manière d’un deshabillé de soie que l’on porte à la maison en tant que peignoir. Parfait pour une pub Obao mais pas vraiment adapté au quotidien.

Et je suis tombée sur cette chemise ( présentée fermée sur le site) et c’est d’abord son imprimé qui m’a fait tilt: un motif japonisant discret qui pourrait presque passer pour du liberty de loin… puis le drapé dans le dos. Et je me suis dit que ce serait intéressant de la porter ouverte, comme une surchemise. Au final, ça donne un petit mélange oriental-occidental … Quand Paris rencontre Sushi… en quelque sorte.

One of the things I didn’t write down in my Sales list is the kimono vest. And the reason for that is that I found it before making said list. I had been looking for one since spring, but without success. It’s very hard to find one that isn’t going to be taken literally, for, with my face + a kimono, it’d be easy to think I’m applying for a position in a sushi bar. And most of the time, either the print wasn’t sober enough (BIG dragons in the back, with BIG chinese or japanese characters = like if there weren’t enough « Asia » signals … you never know, in case the exotic touch wasn’t apparent enough) or the kimono was really too long, like a silk negligee you’d wear at home like a robe. Perfect for an Obao commercial, but not really adapted for everyday wear.

And then I found this vest (worn closed on the website) and it was the print that first caught my eye: a discreet japanese pattern that could almost pass off as a liberty print from far off…and then the draping in the back. and I thought it would be interesting to wear the vest open, like an overshirt. In the end, it gives for a sort of east meets west mix … when Paris met Sushi … in a way. (English translation by Bleu Marine)
