On the 25th of may this year, my blog celebrated its10 yearsof existence.In 2007, I had started on a whim after discovering Balibulle blog and leaving her tons of comments (her and other bloggers … social media didn’t exist at the time). I was first on Canalblog then here starting 2008.
SO much has happened in 10 years : you saw me grow up (and grow old-er), evolve, as did my tastes.
At first I was very attracted by colors, patterns, extravagant layering … and now I’m headed in the opposite direction : minimalist and hopefully later, “capsule” wardrobe
I thought it would be interesting to analyse this evolution not to prove that I have very sound taste in fashion (2007 and 2008 will discredit me forever) but to remember, and notice how much following the latest trends isn’t necessarily a good thing : “less is more”.
2007 : Legging fetish
The 2007 archives can’t be found on this blog. Not that I’m ashamed (although …) but because I juste never mustered up the courage to migrate my old blog here.
You’re not missing out on much, apart from approximative pictures of yours truly with myhead chopped off (Anonymous was the word back in 2007), Desigual-like dresses worn with leggingand Uggs.
2008 : keffiyeh & fringes

The star of the show obviously, along with my fringes boots andlayered cardigans. In2008, I was wearing my whole closet all at once!
2009 : a tentative of feminization
As a child and a teenager, I hated wearing dresses or anything “girly”, but in 2009, you can notice I’m erring slightly on the em>dark sidewith a few more delicate fabrics (Lace ordresses), poses with great sensual potential, I left leggings behind (thank God) but still this “Mega Warrior” hair, with the well-known upwards spikes (I even went as far as posting a tutorial).
Note, the“officer jacket”and “Pirate boots” trend. (these are waiting in my basement as we speak … they won’t be making a comeback with me!).
2010 : Leo & Rock
In 2010, leopard print is everywhere on fashion blogs : I’m no exception, and I’ll wear it anyway I can. The snood is also everywhere
I was never Rock’n Roll but spikes andleather are on everyone of my outfits
2011 : Grungy shorts & continuous touseled hair
In 2011, the unconvicing rockstar in me found its perfect biker jacket (still perfect after 6 yearsof wear). I’m also deeply in love with shredded jean shorts and forplatform sneakers.
The outfits are less shameful and not as complicated, but this hair continues to make me look like Sangoku (I wasn’t sponsored by hair gels I swear).
2012 : Platform sneakers
Spikes andbiker jacket are still at the top of my list in my closet, in 20122012… along with the new star of the year,the perfecto coat .
After a number of hesitations (probably justified), I finally cave in and buy Isabel Marant sneakers. I’m still trying to sell them today. Fail.
2013 : My hair is free
In 2013, My style is edging towards british and preppy : this is all Alexa Chung’s fault.
But highlight of the year : in august I abandon all hair trickeries (except maybe the hair bandanafrom American Apparel) and let them live their life !
2014 : Shhh! It’s growing
In 2014,I’m letting my hair grow out, I’m trying something new sometimes with lack of volume.But anyway, I was willing to try
Not a lot of extravanganza : my love formen suits d’homme s growing stronger by the day. I am obviously a future Kingsman …
2015 : Back to short hair
In 2015, my hair has never been so long on this blog : I try a couple waves, wonder about the future of my hair and finally cut it during summer. . I feel lighter and more “me”. Overalls, scarves, bandanasare my end of the year fashion obsessions.
2016 : Never without my bandana
In 2016, theneck scarf is almost mandatory in my outfits. A dream comes true when I wear a suit in front of the Kingsmanshop.
I start thinking about investing in quality and intemporal pieces (like this trench or this camel coat).
2017 : It’s all about the basics
Slight hair changes : this is the easiest option style of all 10 years. In the good days, I can even have a little volume without trying too hard.
The year isn’t over yet, but you’ll notice I’m not posting as many outfits as I used to: less time, but also because I’m trying to get rid of more than half my wardrobe in the upcoming months. .
I haven’t yet attained my ideal style-wise, and I don’t know if I’ll ever make it, but I’m becoming more aware of the (fruitful or not) excess of the past years.
Don’t worry, I still love fashion, but I want to focus of the basics, not try too hard, favor quality over quantity (in all domains), and have more time to enjoy the rest. (English translation by Marine)
